A massive demonstration, with a total of 130,000 protesters, was held at various spots in downtown Seoul on Nov. 14 to condemn the Park Geun-hye administration’s policies over various issues, including the aftermaths of Sewol ferry disaster, the state-authored history textbook issue and layoff policies.

As demonstrators and the police clashed near Gwanghwamun Plaza around 5 p.m., the police hit back at protests with water cannons to get disperse the crowd. The demonstration continued through the evening.

In the meantime, Baek Nam-gi, an elderly protestor, was knocked down by the police water cannon while taking part during the demonstration. He was rushed to the Seoul National University hospital to undergo brain surgery.
